August 30,2011. The Empress

Core Meaning: Abundance and Creation

The artistry of this card pulls at my imagination as the woman dressed in her beautiful gown, long flowing hair and glistening fairy wings lifts her hand upward toward the sky leading a group of butterflies upward to create a beautiful ring. Again, the woman is perched on a tree branch surrounded by bright orange and yellow roses making me think that perhaps this represents her strong connection to mother nature and beauty. Also, she is carrying a basket full of fresh vegetables which I believe represents both creation and abundance. The circle of butterflies brings to mind the symbolism for a cycle, one filled with life and vitality due to the earthy colors of the butterflies, surely meaning good things to come. As I look at the woman, I notice how strong and confident she looks, glowing with happiness Then I notice a heart hanging from her belt, so I think that if pulled, this card could have a positive meaning for relationships- signifying the beginning and growth of a new stage of the relationship filled with the creation of love and happiness.

August 27,20ll- The Eight of Pentacles

Eight of Pentacles.Core Meaning: Working Carefully
The card shows a spider who has carefully woven eight pentacles into his intricate web attached to a tree branch. The design is simple, yet filled with many different strings of web that could represent the many paths and obstacles one must overcome to make something so detailed and beautiful just right. There are fae like beings woven throughout the tree branch looking down upon the spider, hard at his work, and the background of the card is filled with dreamy colors of  blues, purples, and greens. This card truly depicts the meaning of hard work, patience, diligence and consideration. However, it also shows how all these aspects pay off. The spider's web is absolutely magnificent.
If I were to pull this card I would also describe it as such; perhaps there is a project one is taking on that will require careful, tedious work, or maybe it is a sign of needing more patience with the more difficult situations in life. Or, if someone has been working on something they are passionate about, that the reward for finishing it will be positive, regardless of how difficult the path was to get them there.
